RESULTS

The TagX platform, launching in early 2024, allows users to create leagues, build and host events, and compete with other users from around the world while retaining margins from each event played.

With the success of their flag rugby efforts in Australia and other select countries, TagX was ready to scale their unique approach to the sport globally. In order to ensure that events could be created, managed and monetized internationally, the challenge was building and launching a platform that would entice new users to create leagues, invite players, and set up events in their local markets. While the top level functionality was focused on a statistics-first, competitive experience for players, a robust payment system was required in order to handle processing payments and handling payouts to leagues based on participation and event costs.

Turkois worked (and continues to work) with TagX leadership in order to ensure a complete implementation and platform launch targeting early 2024. The architected solution allows individuals to create leagues, teams, and events using a combination of player and manager portals. Payments for playing in events, organizing events, and profits from events are all processed and distributed to TagX League Managers and TagX itself via Stripe Connect. The integration provides a streamlined workflow, ensuring timely and accurate payments to all parties involved.

KEY RESULTS

  • Design and development of a three-portal platform, catering to players, league managers and admins, as well as companion mobile application for referees entering game data globally.

  • Implementation of Stripe Connect for onboarding leagues, setting up payout accounts and facilitating platform <> connected account payments in multiple countries

  • Event creation engine allowing for league managers to create events, set prices at a division level, and calculate profit-per-event based on country

  • Ability for players to add payment methods and pay for participating in league-created events

  • In-app reporting based on Stripe transactions provided via both admin portal and league manager portals, as well as payment history provided to players

| CONCLUSION

With a pending launch scheduled for early 2024, the TagX platform and its payments structure will enable rugby athletes and enthusiasts from around the World to launch their own businesses through leagues and event play. Additionally, the experience provides a fun, friendly environment for recreational athletes to compete with one another on the global stage. TagX and Turkois teamwork continues to push the boundaries of what a real-world and fantasy sport hybrid experience looks like - play on!
