Turkois helps Poundfit streamline global payments and subscriptions with a custom Stripe integration

OVERVIEW

Poundfit is a global fitness brand known for its music-driven workout experiences and international instructor training programs. Their large, customized WordPress platform supports multiple business functions, including class subscriptions, membership portals, event ticketing, and global merchandise sales.

As Poundfit’s worldwide community continued to grow, the company sought to modernize its payment infrastructure. They needed a flexible, unified solution capable of handling one-time payments, recurring subscriptions, and international transactions with ease, while maintaining a seamless user experience across their existing WooCommerce environment.

THE CHALLENGE

Poundfit’s previous payment setup relied on multiple systems, including Authorize.Net, PayPal, and Global-E, creating complexity and limitations around settlement, localization, and payment method availability. The WooCommerce Stripe plugin did not support consistent USD settlements or localized payment options such as Klarna and Afterpay.

To better serve their global audience and streamline operations, Poundfit needed a comprehensive payment and subscription solution that integrated directly into their existing WordPress and WooCommerce infrastructure, while supporting their diverse business model of workout classes, certifications, and merchandise sales.

Turkois collaborated closely with the Poundfit team to develop a custom WordPress plugin that integrates Stripe Payments and Stripe Billing directly within WooCommerce. The solution uses Stripe UI Elements and a secure PHP backend to deliver a unified, dynamic, and secure checkout experience that works seamlessly within Poundfit’s complex site architecture.

By leveraging Stripe’s flexibility and extensive API ecosystem, Poundfit gained the ability to support a wide range of global payment methods, including major credit and debit cards, buy now/pay later options like Affirm, Afterpay, and Klarna, and digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link.

The integration provides centralized control and global scalability, including:

  • Unified settlement in USD across all markets

  • Support for over 135 currencies and international payment methods

  • Streamlined subscription management through Stripe Billing

  • Seamless integration with existing WooCommerce memberships, event ticketing, and merchandise systems

Throughout the project, collaboration between Turkois and the Poundfit team ensured that every aspect of the integration aligned with their operational goals and technical infrastructure.
